Suzanne Somers |
She was beautiful and charming.
And she was a badass who paved the way for equal pay for women.
While she played the role of a "dumb blonde" named Chrissy Snow on the sitcom Three's Company, she was anything but.
She fought for equality back in 1980 by demanding the same pay that her male co-star was making. Somers was making $30,000 per episode while John Ritter was paid $150,000 per episode. For standing up for herself, she was rewarded by being fired from the show and both of her co-stars stopped speaking to her.
They were angry at her for asking for equality.
Joyce DeWitt didn't speak to her for 30 years. John Ritter snubbed her for 20 years. And she was treated like a criminal on the set of Three's Company while she finished out her contract, including taping her part from another room and having a police escort on and off the set.
Three's company was never the same without Suzanne Somers. She was replaced twice from 1981 to 1984. The show ended in 1984.
Somers went on to have a happy, successful life and career as a model, actress, author, wife, mother, and fitness guru.
I will miss her.

I never knew this happened. Funny how networks can hide facts. I think she was labeled as a difficult person to work with. Sad
