According to a Huff Post Los Angeles article, the parents of a 15-year-old California boy asked a man from their church to beat their son. The article says the parents found a lighter and suspected their son of smoking. They dropped the boy off at a fellow churchgoer's house where the alleged beating took place. It was reported that the metal pole used for the beating left noticeable bruises on the child, prompting school officials to call the police. The 39-year-old accused man was arrested and now faces “a felony charge of willful cruelty to a child.” The parents have not been charged with any crime.
This article got me thinking …
If adults cannot raise children with love and guidance, and child missteps are dealt with violently, those adults should be stripped of the prestigious title of parent—a dub society indiscriminately bestowed upon them. I advocate little tolerance for abusive bullies, especially when their prey is dependent upon them for their well-being, as children are to their parents.
My imagination is running wild as I envision miscreants attending church and living personae of fine people of society, who, in logical Earth-thought, deserve no respect or kind vernacular from any carbon-based life forms they encounter. Pseudo-parents, a.k.a. abusers, may benefit from being locked in a room, perhaps one with metal bars decorating the entranceway and Spartan coverings obstructing the windows. This would allow them time for quiet introspection and the chance to grasp a deeper understanding of the Higher Power they tote on their sleeves.
I am always hopeful, and I hope that they will return to society after their locked-room venture and be kinder people.
