Today is a day for warm remembrance of a man who spent his life fighting for fairness, equality, safety, peace, and justice for all people. Especially the marginalized and the voiceless.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated on April 4, 1968, just 7 days before The Civil Rights Act of 1968 was passed.
It took the United States over 15 years to create a federal holiday honoring King for all his accomplishments.
So, we cherish today in remembering his activism, his bravery, his sacrifices, and his commitment to ending racism and making the world a better place.
Peace.
