Hugh Hefner has died at the age of 91.
He wasn't born into wealth but he had a vision, and he built his Playboy empire through hard work and a little money ($8000) from a small group of investors.
He was a defender of free speech, a pioneer of the sexual revolution, and claimed to be neither Republican nor Democrat. He defended gay rights at a time when no one else would.
He always appeared relaxed and carefree and content when he was interviewed or photographed, and I'd like to think he led a life of happiness and joy.
Some headlines are calling him an 'icon' --- I agree.
I hope his passing was peaceful.
